Holiness----Being Intentional and Vigilant

Hi Everyone,

Right now, in the women's Bible Study at my sending church, we are studying Nancy Leigh DeMoss's "Holiness."

One thing that she mentioned in her book, Holiness, is that we should be "intentional and vigilant about holiness."

For the believer, who has been saved from the power of sin, living a life of continual sin, is not the option that God desires.

Romans 6:1-4 "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."

Someone once said that "God is much more interested in our holiness than He is in our personal comfort." How true!

I agree with Nancy. We must be vigilant, not "excusing our flesh" or "rationalizing away" our sin. we must continue to say what God says about it, and be vigilant to our hearts and what is taking place in out attitudes, actions, thoughts, motives, etc that is proceeding from our hearts and not pleasing to the Lord and is sin. We must also be intentional, seeking to live a life that pleases the Lord, living according to the NEW LIFE that He has called us to!....intentionally choosing to live in obedience----continually saying no to sin and Yes to Jesus Christ..out of our love and gratitude to Him!

Am I intentional and Vigilant about walking in obedience and Holiness with Jesus today? (Not out of legalism, but rather out of my love for Him)
